“Peak 10″ and the “Peak Fit System” – What’s the difference?

Categories: Latest News

For those of you who have questions about all that is Peak – Read on.

First a little background on my personal journey to get Peak Fit.  When I was a new mom with very young children (one with special needs), I found little time and energy to focus on my own personal health and wellbeing.  My “new normal” left me feeling lethargic, out of shape and emotionally low. The only way for me to manage taking care of myself was to start working out at home.

This experience fueled my desire to create programming that would give those who sorta “threw in the towel”, a way to get it back. I wanted the most direct route for people to feel and look their best. I know when we feel good about ourselves, everything is easier, our spirit is lifted and we feel like we can take on new challenges.   My journey began with the “Your Body Breakthru Series” which really did get me feeling closer to the “old me” again.

With the Peak 10 series, I wanted to take my home workouts to a whole new level with a program that would leave the home exerciser in the best shape of their life , not only with a body they loved, but more importantly a feeling of empowerment, accomplishment and a passion to take on whatever life threw their way.  I also knew I wanted real results so I “tested” the program on some of our health club members at Breakthru Fitness in Pasadena, California and the results far surpassed my expectations.  Peak 10 not only became a home workout program, but the demand from our health club members also led me to create the 8-week club version we continue to run 3 times a year.  In fact the program is so well received we are starting to spread the “club version of Peak 10” to other health clubs around the country.

We originally filmed the first 2 DVDs in the series (Peak 10 Cardio Strength and Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn) while looking for companies to help us produce and distribute the full 10 DVD home workout system.  This system would include other supporting workouts that improve strength, cardiovascular endurance as well as flexibility.  We knew with a company partnering with us we could get the consumer price point down to a more affordable one than if we produced and distributed all 10 DVDs ourselves.

Self producing and distributing DVDs is costly and we knew we could not offer the full series on our own for less than $19.99 per DVD, not to mention the additional costs of the necessary extras to complete the kit.

We were very excited when we found a company that believed in our vision and produced the entire product series. Due to potential trademark issues, the Peak 10 name was replaced with the “Peak Fit Challenge” name.  The original 2 DVD workouts were reshot under the new name and included in the package.  The “Peak Fit Challenge” product went to market in 2011.

Due to several challenging circumstances, the product was pulled from the market. This was a personally challenging time for me as I felt my “best work” was left sitting on a shelf somewhere.  Consumers were asking for the product and I had no way of giving it to them.

Meanwhile, I was granted the trademark to the Peak 10 name and decided to make two follow up workouts called “Peak 10 More Cardio Strength” and “ Peak 10 More Cardio IntervalBurn”. These new workouts were NOT included in the “Peak Fit Challenge” series.  Seeing the success of our health club version of Peak 10, I just couldn’t let the home workout program sit and collect dust.  With the help and support of friends and family, I continued to pursue other options.  The little voice inside my head said, “Never give up!”

Fast forward, I am thrilled and honored to be working with our new company, fitness leader and innovator, Nautilus. They have an incredible team of positive, fitness minded people who saw the potential of the home product and agreed to take it on.   The new infomercial was launched this past weekend, (November 10th, 2012) and the full 10 DVD system is now available again at www.peakfitsystem.com

Many of you have asked if I will be making any new “Peak” workouts.  My answer is, “Yes!” I have a number of workouts ready to be filmed if we have enough consumer demand for them.  So for any of you looking for more, please spread your love of the Peak Fit System program to your friends and loved ones.

In the mean time, I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season and remind you to Live, life, fit!

    Hi Michelle,

I’ve really enjoyed making my way through the Peak Fit System and additional Peak 10 videos. Any timelines for new Peak workouts?

    Hi there,
It sure sounds like you have been trying hard. I do agree weight training is important. We also know that high intensity training like in my Peak system is proven to be great for fat loss. The program is well rounded so you will have combinations of pure strength training, high intensity training and pure cardio training and flexibility. I do think the variety will be a nice change for you. With all that you have done, I also think you should try to carve out an hour for your exercise on most days. At 32 if you have no health issues, you will gain the energy to do this program. I am more than a decade older than you and many of my participants are even older than me so this may be a good goal for you so you can push past this plateau you seem to be on. I do know for most people exercising first thing in the morning proves to be more successful so the rest of your day doesn’t get in your way. Also, you must make a hard effort with your nutrition and monitor the amount of calories you are actually taking in verses how much you are burning. I do find the exerspy armband (made my bodymedia) is the best way to monitor this. It sounds like you are stuck so this device would be a great addition for you and is much more accurate than other devices which tend to overestimate burn rates which then leads to you not being in a deficit large enough to produce fat loss. Even with stellar nutrition it is really easy to eat more calories than you burn even if you are eating healthy. Our lives are more and more sedentary so the more you move the better. Put 100% focus into the 8 week program and you will get results but remember follow your good nutrition and portion control for weight loss so you get the results you will be working so hard to achieve. I know you can do it, just set your mind to it and decide this time nothing will stop you.

    Hi Michelle

I´ve heard about your program and I have a question…. I tried before “Insanity” for two months, but I didn´t loose any inches or weight, then somebody told me that it must have been because I haven´t had enough muscle, so I began with “Chalean Extrem” and right now I´m almost finishing the three months without noticing any results. I´m also taking care of what I eat (I´m with a nutricionist), so I want to know if you think that I´m going to get better results with your program…

Another thing, I don´t have that much time, and perhaps the energy that it takes to make an hour of exercise, so, ¿Is it possible to make just 30min of each DVD?

By the way, I´m 32 years old, my weight is 150 pounds, and I´m 64.5 inches tall. My waist measure is 32.2 inches.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Michelle,

I already own all 4 Peak 10 Workouts and love them. Sounds like the first two are in the peak fit system and the “more” workouts are not. Is this correct? I am thinking about purchasing the system because I really love the workouts and your instruction but don’t want to many duplicate workouts.

Thanks and all the best to you.

Hi Sally, Yes, both sets come with a workout rotation guide. If you are looking for the “Your Body Breakthru” rotation guide you can find it on my website. Just go to the “connect tab” at the right top corner of the website. It will say download nutrition guide and prompt you to enter a password. The password is my body. You will then get 2 PDF files you can download. A basic nutrition guide and a workout rotation calendar.
All the best on your journey to fitness.

    Hi Michelle,

I want to thank you for your quick and honest reply. It made me feel as though you care about the individual and not just selling a product. I have another quick question… will the set come with a rotation to follow?

Again, thank you for your honesty.

Hi Sally, I would suggest you get started with working out first before jumping into the Peak Fit System program. A good option for you would be my “Your Body breakthru” 3 DVD pack. This along with some good healthy nutrition for 6-8 weeks would help get your body ready for the more challenging Peak Fit System set. After about 6-8 weeks of building up your base fitness level, then I would go into the Peak Fit System series. We have people who have done the Peak Fit system several times but we do recommend that you take a 6-8 week break between 8 week cycles. You can do this by alternating back into the Your Body Breakthru series or by another workout rotation of your choice. The main thing to remember is to get started and take it one day at a time. The Your Body Breakthru DVDs will still challenge you but they are toned down a bit from the intensity of the Peak Fit System.
I hope this helps. Happy Holidays, Michelle Dozois

I am out of shape and overweight. Will I be able to do the Peak Fit System program? Also I see it is an 8-week system. What happens after that? Do I continue with it or start something new. I do not see how I can be in peak shape in 8 weeks.

    Thank you for your honesty.
