Ever wonder why..”Peak Fit Challenge” workouts are not on the Breakthru Fitness regular class schedule?

Our Current Group Classes: We are very proud of our group class schedule and are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to provide the best group fitness programming.  In fact, we offer more classes per square foot than any other club in our area.  We provide an extremely robust schedule with variety and most importantly classes that deliver results. Between Spin, Zumba, Pure Strength, Circuit, Boot-Camp, Quick Sculpt, Step, Core, Yoga, Pilates and any other class on our schedule you can get all the results you are looking to achieve.

Considerations: When a health club offers classes to a general membership, it must be able to service as many multiple fitness levels in one class as possible and take into consideration special issues.  With that in mind, many of our classes are extremely challenging even for the highest fitness levels but those classes can also be easily modified to appeal to a variety of fitness levels.

When planning for our group room classes, the instructors always have a plan of action, but within that plan they must be flexible to accommodate the various bodies and fitness levels that walk in the room.  On any given day, your most experienced exerciser and least experienced can walk into the class or NOT walk into the class without warning.  The truth is you can not always plan on WHO your participants are going to be.  This general unknown is part of how you program to teach to the general membership.

Although in the perfect world we would designate levels more distinctly, years of trial and error and careful planning have showed us the levels need to be broad as most people, regardless if they are experienced exercisers or not, need classes offered at around the same time for general work, school and family obligations.

Weight and Fat Loss: Like with any weight loss program, the key to weight loss first and foremost is proper nutrition for fat loss.  With proper nutrition, our group fitness class schedule provides a variety of group fitness classes to aid in weight loss.  You do not have to do “Peak Fit Challenge” or “Lose 2 Win” or any other specific program to lose weight or body fat to accomplish this goal.  You must control your diet and exercise.

The Peak Fit Challenge Program: This program is designed for experienced exercisers looking to take their fitness to a new level. The program is designed to compliment proper nutrition for fat loss.  To be enrolled in Peak program, you must be free of all injuries, and be an experienced regular exerciser that can perform full body movements, like push ups, planks, and intense jumping drills.  One must also be able to move their body from the floor to the air without causing harm.  Not that this should be easy for the participant but the body must have the capability to perform these types of movements.   The program is not designed for a less experienced exerciser.  Although we allow modifications this should NOT be the focus of the instructors’ attention.  The most critical aspect is that you have a set group, with similar levels and goals for a set period of time.  From the program point of view, the instructor knows exactly who to expect, the experience level and amount of intensity to deliver.  This allows us to deliver Peak workouts that push even the most experienced exerciser in a carefully planned and progressive program.

What it takes to put a PEAK FIT CHALLENGE workout together: Michelle and Phil Dozois created our Peak program from the ground up. It is not copied from a manual or another instructional facility.  All original programs and formats were created by Michelle and Phil Dozois, along with key members of our “Peak Fit Challenge” team.  With each round of Peak we continue to fine-tune the program.  It is the experience of running the groups, the participants’ feedback, staff review sessions and success data that allows us to continue to make the necessary adjustments to provide the best experience possible.

The Music & Programming: Did you know all the music in our “Peak” workouts are custom created by Michelle and a professional music editing company for exact phrasing, speed, bells, and timing?  Each new piece of music (for each new version of class) goes through this process with several rounds of editing.  This is something that has never been done in any program at any health club that we are aware of.  Each beat of every routine is strategically planned and choreographed to deliver proper sequencing for our Signature Peak formats.  Programming and choreography for each 5 minutes segment can take anywhere between 5 and 20 hours to create, test and finalize. After that time, staff training and rehearsing takes several more hours.

Our staff does a terrific job of making it look simple teaching these routines, but the fact is it takes hours and hours of practice and planning.  The stamina required for teaching a Peak class is many times greater than any traditional group exercise format.  Peak is not mandatory or designed to be performed on an ongoing basis. The stress on the body needs to be cycled for proper recovery and metabolic periodization.  We hope this provides you with deeper insight of what it takes to create our “Peak Fit Challenge” program and why a “Peak” workout will not be part of our general group class
